To write or exercise, goes today's blog

This is a tricky one. Although writing is important for writers (LOL) excercise is too. It creates feel-good endorphins (Always useful). It promotes a clearer mind (Definitly a plus). It tones flabby muscles (Extremelly beneficial during the swimsuit season). And it helps us squeeze back into our clothes after the holidays (Really don't feel like buying a new wardrobe for the new year). So even with all of those fabulous, incredible, life-altering bonuses, I am still sitting at my computer writing, not even doing butt clenches, but hey, my fingers looks great.

I'm thinking a treadmill or elliptical with a laptop or iPad attach device needs to be invented, and still I wonder if I'd use it.

Would love to know what you do to keep up with your writing and keep your heart rate up at the same time.

  1. How was I your friend on Facebook, and not following your blog?

Personally, as a dad, with a full time job, it's very hard to get enough exercise, and make time to write. I'm not sure how I pull it off. It probably has to do with getting very little sleep.

  4. Usually I bike to work, and that's my main--and admittedly inadequate, since work is not far away--source of exercise. When I'm stuck on a story point, though, I walk instead. The extra time allows me to hash things out, and I often come up with solutions to my problems.

    Welcome to blogging!

  5. I have an inverse relationship between writing and fitness. If you come up with a solution, let me know! I'm off this week, so I hope to both write and exercise, but not at the same time.

  6. Welcome to blogging!!! Your blog looks great!

BTW, the machine you suggest has been invented--it's called the Fitdesk.

Good luck on your blogging adventures!

  8. HOLY CANNOLI BATMAN! There is such a thing. For the low price of 300.00, not including shipping. Ouch! I think I'll have to do exercise and write seperately for a while!

  9. I run and that's part of my writing process because I solve plot problems or come up with ideas while I run. :D

  10. I like the treadmill because you could make a "desk" to hold books and such while walking but I am now considering an elliptical because it would be so much easier on my hips and knees. (to many years dancing)

    Love your blog.

  14. I can't do anything on the elliptical but really brainless things, like flip through magazines or watch TV. Congrats on your first post!

  15. When I'm on the elliptical I'm just trying to exercise. I do know a writer that works on his laptop while on his treadmill. I am from Writers Support 4U. Congrads on your first post. *applause*

  16. Hey, my finger dance is phenomenal. =) That's all the exercise I need.

Yay! Welcome to the blogging madness...er, ranks.

Oh um, I believe the elliptical is perfect for reading or audio books--at least, that seems the only way I'll stay fit. Here's some virtual cheese for your first post!

  17. Hey! Congrats on the new blog! Love the tree!

I'm way overdue on shaping up... writing def makes me flabby... lol. I have a treadmill at home, and also a dog that needs excessive walking, so that forces me to get out and exercise. Also I try to run up an down the stairs in my house as often as possible. ;)
